Printer Medics was established in 1993 as a recycler and supplier of office printer consumables. In those early days our mission was to help save valuable natural resources, by recycling components, which could safely be used again. A bonus to our customers was that we saved them money at the same time.
Our main concern then and now, was to produce a quality product that would encourage customers to return time and time again. We are proud to say that we still have customers who started trading with us during our first month of operation.
Over the years we have seen many changes in the industry, to which we have had to respond:
- The gradual fall in the use of dot matrix ribbons
- The increase in the use of colour printers - both inkjet and laser machines
- Increases in print speed - from a typical 4 pages per minute to over 40 ppm
- Reductions in machine size - manufacturers now compete on “desk footprint” size
- Massive reductions in printer capital costs - with increases in specification
We found from very early on that we had to be experts in laser printer technology, and this led naturally to offering our customers a maintenance and repair service for their machines. This has led to training for our engineers to enable us to offer this service across a wide range of machines and technologies - including dot matrix and inkjet machines.
